Actors of Someday or One Day 想見你, Yong-Jiu Grocery Store 用九柑仔店, The Victim's game 誰是被害者, Nowhere Man 罪夢者 and many others attend the 55th Golden Bell Awards 金鐘獎

The Awards are currently live streaming, so you can catch it on Youtube at the moment. I am obviously here for Some Day or One Day and Greg and Alice and there's a whole post about this which you can read here. But I also appreciate a lot of actors and shows that have been given a nod at these awards, so this is just a post about that...

A lot of familiar faces walked the red carpet tonight including Aaron Yan, Ba Yu (of both Pleasantly Surprised and Before We Get Married), Phoebe Yuan of Before We Get Married, Cheryl Yang of The Mirror, Joseph Chang and his co-star Li Na of The Victim's Game, as well as Edison Wang for his other drama, Nowhere Man. Edison is also in Yong Jiu Grocery Store Christina Mok and Yin Xi Xiong. I have to say plunging necklaces were really in this year with those dresses going wayyy down, but everyone also also looked very nice as well. We're up to the last leg of the awards now, so good luck to the remaining competing stars....I will update with the results of the awards when they've finished.

Some Day or One Day 想見你 nominated for 6 Categories at this year's Golden Bell including Best Drama, Best Actor & Best Actress

Today saw the announcement of nominees for the Golden Bell Awards to be hosted next month and Some Day or One Day has been nominated for 6 Awards. Both Greg and Alice have been nominated for Best Actor and Best Actress!

The Categories the series has been nominated for are the following:
  • Best Drama Series - Some Day or One Day
  • Best Actor - Greg Hsu
  • Best Actress - Alice Ke
  • Best Director - Huang Tien Jen
  • Best Script-writing - Jian Qifeng & Lin Xinhui
  • Best Innovation - Some Day or One Day
Such an amazing achievement! However, competition is tough this year. The top contender is Netflix's The Victim's Game, which scored 8 nominations including Best Drama Series and Best Actor for Joseph Chang. Another strong contender with 7 nominations is Yong-Jiu Grocery Store, a drama based on a manga about a real estate agent coming back to his small town to take over a family grocery store business.

The Best Drama Category will be a fight between the following dramas:
  • Some Day or One Day 想見你
  • Yong-Jiu Grocery Store  用九柑仔店
  • The Victim's Game 誰是被害者
  • The Mirror 鏡子森林
  • Hate the Sin, Love the 噬罪者
Although being a romance, it might be taken as more light-hearted series, I really hope Some Day or One Day will be able to take out the award for it's ability to make viewers feel like they went back in time. Also really looking forward to see Greg and Alice reunited and prettied up for an award show!

Joseph Chang 張孝全 helps with and features in Amber Kuo's 郭采潔 Mini Film and Music Video Project, Begin Again and Bird n' Tree

I care a lot for Joseph Chang, though I haven't watched his projects in recent years. He's a very talented and versatile actor. Lately he's only been doing films, like 2-3 films a year. But in the past, he's switched from serious films to dramas just like that and done well in all his projects. He's also such a good looking guy. For me, he falls into a similar category as Jet Chao, a guy with a very intense manly demeanor, who takes acting very seriously, but also knows how to have fun with his co-stars.

Anyway, one of his minor projects which I've been interested in lately is his role in Amber Kuo's mini film and music video project. I'm not particularly a fan of Amber's, and I think some of her personal values are very old fashioned according to some interviews she's given before. But I do like this little project they've come up with.

The dreamy ambiance, sunlit filters and doomed love story of this mini film and related music video are too pretty not to post about. The song Bird n Bees is pretty cute too, even though a number of lyrics don't make sense literally in English. I also like the floating indie vibes of both videos. Simply beautiful.

Joseph Chang's sincere and desperate expressions add the finishing touch to a story about a guy with a neurotic, bickering girlfriend in what looks to be a very complicated relationship, on a very bizarre journey. Joseph and Amber have worked on films together before, so I think Joseph was a natural choice for her music video project.

You can read more about the project in the original article here.

Rainie Yang楊丞琳 and Joseph Chang 張孝全 Lend their voices to the Animated Version of Love You 醉後決定愛上你

Does anyone remember this drama, Love You (Or Drunken to Love You/ After being Drunk, I'll Definitely Love You)? One of my favourite SETTV/ Sanlih dramas of all times with Rainie Yang and Joseph Chang. This drama had the best music with Rainie and Yen-J, the opening credits were a dreamy sequence with Rainie and Joseph fated to run into each other, the on-screen chemistry was at times sweet and funny, and at other times...passionate and hot.

If you haven't watched it, I highly recommend Love You even though the drama came out awhile ago in 2011. Anyway, I'm just writing to say that there's been a working reunion with Rainie and Joseph, a new animated series. No surprises really as the show has been so popular since its release that it's made 1.4 billion dollars across novels, comies, games, DVDs etc. Love You has also recently been voted, by Asian netizens, as the most popular drama of the drunken lovers genre. I suspect that Sanlih were looking for a way to revive the Fated to Love You/ Drunken to Love You series as it was one of those dramas with crazy ratings, breaking 5 (They still had a giant poster of the drama hanging up in the Sanlih offices which I saw when I went to the Pleasantly Surprised fan meet in 2014).

I wonder how they're going to animate that making out scene?! They'll probably water it down. If you don't know what scene I'm talking about here's a small snippet of that passionate scene along with a funny interview where Rainie talks about how Joseph made sure she was OK with him making out with her before he got on with it. She gets flushed just thinking about it though!

Anyway, it's nice to see Rainie and Joseph working together again! Even if it is just doing voice-overs in the studio. They had such good chemistry. Before Love You, they worked together once a long time ago, but I think they played family members in their first drama. They also weren't super close when they started out, so their make-out scenes were super awkward to film. But they got on real well during the filming of Love You. Although Joseph is a little reserved at times, I liked all the behind the scenes for the drama because they would both play jokes on each other frequently.

Rainie even got Joseph to play her lover in her film clip for the song that was used in the Love You. The song was really great and the story line with Joseph added to the emotions. Joseph also turned out to Rainie's fan meet with some drama related gifts.

Here are some Behind the Scenes video of the making of the Music Video too, for those who might be interested or who love this pairing.

Anyway, here's Rainie and Joseph in the studio together and signing promotional posters for the animation. Since Love You, Rainie and Joseph haven't done many dramas. Rainie has focused a lot on her singing career, releasing 3 albums and doing a number of concerts, although she did do Sunny Happiness (Well, it got released after Love You, though it was filmed beforehand) and mainland drama, Love at Second Sight. Joseph Chang has been a gun at films, releasing pretty much 2-3 films a year. They look like they're having fun together, though Joseph looks tired. Apparently he had a sore throat and has been worked thoroughly through his tight filming schedule. Here's hoping they have a good time collaborating together again!
