Taiwanese actors have been turning out to watch Ivy Shao 邵雨薇 in a Wedding Dress for the play 'Last Night's Stars' 昨夜星辰

I probably don't write as much about Ivy Shao as I'd like to, but she's got some pretty cool projects this year. I like that she's not only doing film and TV, she's also ventured into theatre as well. Are you wondering why you've been seeing pictures of her in a wedding dress lately?

She's the female lead in a play called Last Night's Stars, a performance that looks at the complexity of relationships over the span of two generations. It explores the modern man and woman's love, marriage and ideas of family in today's society and looks at the burdens, pressures and choices that people must make in either adhering or deviating from their values. Sounds pretty profound and serious! Marriage is central to the play and all the promotions of the play have been centred on Ivy in a wedding dress. Here's a few lovely pictures that were released when the play was first announced. Ivy put the pictures on her instagram, shocking fans....Was she getting married? If not to Marcus (since they broke up amicably awhile ago), then who?! She laughed that it was for her new stage play. The photos got a lot of compliments and Marcus also liked the picture below.

Here's a few photos also from the first conference for the play a while back where Ivy was also wearing a pretty wedding dress for the press.

A number of Taiwanese stars came to the premiere including a bunch who you might recognise from Taiwanese dramas: Lyan Su, Amanda Chou, Jack Li, Lawarence Liu (who played her subtle love interest in When I See You Again)

Jasper Liu 劉以豪 drops some pretty new stills and promotes virtual fan meet for upcoming Netflix project Twogether

Totally looking forward to Jasper's new Netflix project, Twogether, coming out this week. Along with the Korean drama, It's OK to Not be OK, I think it's going to make life better while the restrictions have been tightened for Covid where I live.

Jasper himself dropped some lovely stills of the project today together with links to participate in a virtual fan meet with him on Netflix's Youtube fan channel, The Swoon or V Live, which will both be live streaming the event. All you have to do is submit a question over at The Swoon!

Jasper's photos reveal some scenes that were not shown as part of the trailer, so it's nice to get another glimpse of the show before it starts!

Some other news agencies have also added new stills as well, which overlap with Jasper's:

A series of interviews for Lost Romance 浪漫输给你 with Vivian Sung 宋芸樺, Marcus Chang 張立昂 and Simon Lian 連晨翔

Really lazy to do line by line translations these days, so just going to do a detailed summary of what Vivian, Marcus and Simon say in this charming round of interviews.

I've only done Part 1. I'll see if I have time to do Part 2 someday.
Part 1

Part 2

Interview with Acting out Romance novel stories (Was done Live)

Part 1 Translations

They start off by introducing their characters in the story with Marcus saying he plays 2 characters and Vivian talking about being one character who enters the world of one of her romance novels - and becoming the bomb which sets off some unexpected events in that world. Simon also talks about being a character who exists only in the storybook world that Vivian enters.

Simon tries to come up with a description and says that he's a character with no soul (what he means is that he plays a 2D storybook character). But then he elaborates that his character doesn't have much purpose in his life and only one friend which is Aoran. But as he interacts more with Xiao En (Vivian's character), he becomes more human with an individual personality. The interviewer asks how do you show that you don't have a personality but then get one and Simon says that he does it by making a bored haughty face!

The interviewer jokes that Simon looked sleepy with the bored face and seems like someone who suddenly becomes energetic from more sleep. Simon says he becomes more energetic by knowing Xiao En, knowing that such a fun and likeable girl exists. Marcus says his character is also a sleepy character who becomes more awake, so the most energetic character in the story is Vivian as Xiao En. Marcus says they change according to Xiao En. He says you have to watch to find out whether him and Simon become enemies over a girl or whether they team up to kick Xiao En out of their world.

Vivian and Marcus talk about how they have worked together quite a few times, but this is the first time as a couple in a drama. Marcus starts off by saying that usually it was a one sided love and Vivian jokes that it was always her (characters) that had a one-sided love for him for 7 years. She says after 7 years, she finally has the opportunity to be with him. Marcus jokes that she seems eager and Vivian says, "Hey I waited seven years!"

Vivian says they've known each other for a long time, debuted together and have a working history together, but this time felt different because it's their first time as a pairing and there were some really new experiences like having to lean very close to each other, in a romantic way rather than comedic way, so there was a different feeling - the interviewer is quick to suggest that there is chemistry or that electric spark.

The interviewer asks whether Marcus felt the spark and he says yes, because Vivian's eyes (which he had to stare into) are very expressive. Simon can't help but laugh, so Vivian jokes, "Just because you didn't get me in the drama, you're just sitting here laughing at me!"

The interviewer asks Simon how he got close to the other two, since they've known each other so long. Simon says since he knew of their '7 year love story' (haha, a joke, as he's just referring to what Vivian said earlier), he said he needed to latch onto one of them to infiltrate, so he picked Marcus. Vivian jokes, "Why are you fighting for my role?" Simon says if he got to know one of them, he'd also naturally get to know the other. Vivian jokes that its 'a 'buy one get one free scenario.' Simon says so he'd spend lot of time eating out with Marcus and even celebrating his birthday and all 3 laugh because it sounds like they're dating. They put a caption on screen which says 'Is it really like this? Do they want to do a Boys Love drama?'

Simon continues on about Marcus by saying that they're pretty comfortable with each other as they work out, eat together and talk a lot and he says after chatting, he often says, let's not just be buddies while we're only filming. He says after filming a lot of shows, he knows often you don't necessarily feel like contacting other actors after you finish filming.

Vivian jokes that everyone just doesn't want to contact Simon. Simon jokingly fake cries and says, " I'll just go out and get my stuff!"

Marcus says that him and Simon hit it off easily. He says when they started off, he felt Simon gave off a distanced or intimidating vibe, since he's tall (This made Simon laugh) and his eyes often gave out a kind of bored look (the 'cool' look).

But then when they met properly for the first time and Marcus told Simon that he liked some of his past projects, Simon's eyes lit up in surprise, which was cute. Marcus goes back to listing why he thought Simon was intimating at first and goes into the fact that he's quite good looking.

Marcus says, "Well...am I right? He's good looking as you can see." Simon laughs and looks so embarrassed (haha they put a little drool animation on him!) that Vivian says "What's wrong? Are you feeling shy?!" Marcus says he likes Simon's personality since he's a lot of fun and laughs, and so is Vivian.

The interviewer is curious as to which of the 3 of them is the most romantic. She says that they should close their eyes and point to who they think it is. All 3 of them think this is really difficult task, but do it anyway to please her.

They each end up pointing to a different person (Simon thinks it Marcus, Marcus thinks it's Vivian and Vivian thinks it's Simon.) Vivian and Simon marvel at how well they all understand each other (kind of like how good their chemistry is).

The interviewer says how come you all pointed to each other like that and Marcus uses it as a plug for the drama, "Because we are the cast from Lost Romance!" (all 3 strike a pose).

The interviewer asks them to explain their choices. Marcus says he picked Vivian because he feels like she has a abundance of emotions inside. He says that you don't always see it externally - she's got lots of little theatre personalities but maintains a constantly sunny appearance that keeps everyone happy. (Haha, personally feel like Marcus may have jumbled up what he was trying to say, but he clearly knows her well!) Vivian says she's really happy playing this role and so she is happy on and off set, but Marcus knows her too well and has seen what she's like more privately and what she's been like in the past, so he can see through her. Marcus asks if they'd like to know when he first noticed? But then laughs and says he doesn't know what else to say. They make a joke out of it though. Simon says Marcus is romantic...in his humour and subpar-ness. They all laugh, while Marcus jokes that it's time for him to leave work as there's someone going to eat MacDonalds with him.

The interviewer says that she feels like they'd have a lot of laughing mistake scenes and Vivian says not really since they laugh it all out before they act. Simon adds there's only been one time Marcus tried to make Vivian laugh - when they were filming the hospital scene and he did a heart shape with his fingers at Vivian. Vivian then talks about why she thinks Simon is the romantic one: She's heard about a different, private side of him from friends that makes her think that way. The interviewer asks if the person who told her was a girl and Vivian says it was a guy. Simon asks, "Who?!" Vivian teases him that he must be curious now. She says after hearing some stories, she thought, wow, he's a really warm-hearted guy. Simon scoffs, "Why are you always watching me? Are you secretly in love with me?"

The interviewer says she knows he does at least one romantic thing which is that he rides at least an hour a day (motorcycle, not horse!) She then says that he seems to have a silently protecting, chivalrous type of personality. Simon says that protecting someone takes a lot of time since if the person that you want to protect faces an issue, and you don't have time or you're not there, you can't look after them. In the last bit of this video, the interviewer asks Marcus if he has done anything romantic in real life. Marcus responds that he has in the past and likes to give the girls (he's been interested in) a surprise. Simon jokes that the surprise Marcus would give a girl is by asking her out and confessing. Surprise!

Haha. What a cute interview - really liking their chemistry and totally crushing on Simon now!

Pictures: Marcus Chang 張立昂 and Vivian Sung 宋芸樺 & cast do the Press Rounds to promote Lost Romance 浪漫输给你

Blink and you can miss a whole bunch of interviews for a new show. Though truthfully speaking, I did see these interviews and pictures pop up, I always like to leave a bit of time before I decide whether I'm going to keep blogging about a drama. That, and I do get lazy occasionally and turn into a passive viewer. But these pictures are too pretty and funny to miss.

A bit of a casual translation of the fun parts of the interview - they start off talking about the dramatics of the script, which is like some hyper romance novel. They also talk about Marcus and his coolness when it comes to pinning girls against the wall. Simon says that he couldn't act out those scenes and he says that whenever Marcus' character pins a girl against the wall, he's always on the sidelines and kinda wishes he was being pinned too. Vivian teases him asking doesn't he want to do the pinning, he wants to be pinned by Marcus?! Haha. Kelly agrees that being suddenly grabbed by Marcus she saw him as being cool and jokes that she wanted him to hold her, but had to snap out of it to continue acting as the evil He Ming Li. Cast chemistry aside, I really like the photos they did for this interview shoot...
