Lost Romance 浪漫输给你 Episode 9 Behind the Scenes Translations

This might be my favourite behind the scenes yet, because Vivian and Simon are just too funny together. I still find the yoga concept in the story hilarious and it was a total test of strength for Simon this week. I'm translating pretty much everything - Vivian, Simon and Marcus- except the cat cafe (don't understand the Japanese) and the bit at the end with the meeting.

1. Simon and Vivian film that yoga scene [0:00-2:02]

Yoga instructor: Once in awhile, it gets simple

Yoga instructor: You exercise...

Yoga instructor: So you'll definitely know this leaning style

Simon laughing [Brown caption]: How do you know if I exercise?!

Everyone in the room laughs

Director: He knows more...

Yoga instructor [Red caption]: What performer doesn't exercise?

[Pink caption: The teacher is very sharp]

-Cuts to Simon doing a yoga pose on the side and instructor guiding him-

[Pink caption: #Working overly hard on the scene]

Yoga instructor: It's like wanting to reach out to touch the ceiling...this kind of feeling...

Vivian: In a moment he'll start trembling

Yoga instructor: Yep, your butt has to face towards here

Yoga instructor: Has to be straight

Simon: Butt, right?

Yoga instructor: Right

[Purple and white caption: Takes strength]

Yoga instructor: This side

People in the room: You've withdrawn your butt

-Cuts to Simon being confident-

Simon in English: Piece of Cake

-Cuts to Simon and Vivian stretching together, Vivian pulling Simon-

Simon groans [Pink caption]: Ah~

Vivian pulls harder

Simon protests [Red caption]: Nooo!!

Simon [Pink caption]: Ahhh!!

Simon groans [Brown captions]: Ah, ah, ah!

-Cuts to Vivian and Simon doing the couples yoga pose-

Yoga instructor: Both of you, your elbows need to be locked down

Vivian to Simon: Your hand- wait...

Vivian nervously yelping at Simon [Red caption]: Your hands have to hold mine, la!

Simon: I am holding!

Vivian: How are you holding?!

Finally they working out how to interlock hands properly and Simon lifts Vivian up successfully

[Yellow caption: One try and it's successful]

Yoga instructor: Yes, correct, correct, correct...

Simon, meanwhile, is making sounds from exerting strength

Vivian: Down

Vivian, laughs: I want to be put down!

Simon puts her down laughing

-Cuts to Director, Vivian and Simon running through the scene- 

Director: Let go... fall down...

Director: Ok, let go

Vivian pretends to fall and falls into a straddle over Simon

Director: You've got to be a bit closer (to Simon's face)

Vivian [Purple caption]: A bit closer?!

Director: Your legs...

Director: Are pining his...

Director: Your legs should stop there

Vivian has been on top of Simon this whole time and both of them crack up laughing from being so physical for so long. Simon curls into a ball.

[Pink caption: Why are they suddenly feeling shy?]

Vivian, laughing, to Simon: Wait a moment. 

Vivian, laughing, to Simon: Don't move!

-Cuts to Vivian sitting next to Simon talking-

Vivian [Blue caption]: Just now, I straddled him too naturally

Simon [ Red caption]: I am a man!!

Vivian: I thought I was still filming with Chu Chu

Vivian: Like that time where I kissed her, that scene

Simon joking [Pink & purple captions]: Don't think that...just because I go to a yoga classroom that you can treat me like one of your girlfriends, ok?

---Hahaha, I feel like the underlying message is don't straddle him - you know, it's to do with that sensitivity of being too close to a girl's body XD ---

Vivian, innocently: I'm not! 

Vivian: I really respect yoga guys who are very strong, ok?

-Cuts to filming the yoga scene which turns into a blooper-

So Simon lifts Vivian up, but it's a struggle to keep that balance and a core workout for him!

[Pink caption: Holding back]

Vivian as Xiao En: Wow, your muscles!

Vivian as Xiao En, starting to laugh: Your good body!

[Blue and black caption: Laughing sequence]

Vivian as Xiao En: ...it's too amazing

Crew member: Cut

Vivian as Xiao En: I must help you to find a...

Crew member: Cut, cut cut!

Simon puts Vivian down and she's laughing hard

Vivian laughing: I couldn't... 

Vivian still laughing and pointing at Simon [Pink caption]: I could see his face!

Vivian bursts out laughing more, infecting Simon [ Red caption]: It was about to explode!

Vivian and Simon laugh

Vivian imitates his expression: He was like this

Simon laughs 

-Cuts to another take- 

Vivian and Simon are in their yoga position again

Vivian: Go down a little

She means he needs to slide his feet down a little, but he misunderstands her and he lowers his hands 

Vivian laughing nervously: No, no, no..feet...your feet!

Vivian loudly [mustard caption]: Your feet need to face down a little

Simon laughs

[Gray caption: Limbs appear to be an obstacle XD...]

Vivian: Your feet!

Yoga Instructor: Your feet needs to face down

Vivian: Your feet needs to face down...And then my leg will... ah!

She fake falls on him

-Cuts to Simon laying down and Vivian sitting crossed-legged next to him-

[Pink caption pointing to Simon's leg: Naturally leans up]

Simon is gesturing with his hands and it seems like he'll say something, so Vivian gets closer to hear...by leaning across his body. She leans pretty close to his groin and then suddenly realises and holds her face in shyness.

Simon and Vivian bursts out laughing.

Simon: I feel Vivian Sung...

Simon [gray &red caption]: Really does not treat me as a man

Vivian is laughing hard

---Hahaha, oh Simon, just getting touched in all the places because Vivian isn't sensitive towards him. But what if Vivian is just using that as an excuse? I'm sure plenty of girls would want to have a chance to do that hahaha XD---

-Cuts to Vivian and Simon talking about Qing Feng-

Vivian: But actually, this move of Qing Feng's is...

Vivian [Red caption]: A small act of cleverness

Simon: Which move?

Vivian: Because this is a very romantic action

-Cuts to Vivian explaining to Simon why-

Vivian: Qing Feng wants to say, with a slip of a foot, (he) should be able to kiss her, right?

Simon: You're riiiight

Simon: Why...

Simon [mustard caption]: ...is Xiao En's core so heavy?

Vivian laughs: Yea, Xiao En's core is heavy

Simon [Pink caption]: This is why they haven't kissed

[Grey caption: Qing Feng be careful of failure]

Simon: Qing Feng is...

Vivian: What a shame...

Simon giving a thumbs up: A really amazing person 

Vivian: ...that there wasn't a kiss

Simon: Qing Feng

Vivian grinning [Pink caption]: An expert at picking up girls

Simon [Blue caption]: But I am Simon

[Lilac caption: Then what does Simon's heart think of...]

Simon [Pink caption]: Marcus Chang

Simon [Blue caption]: I raise him up

-Cuts to Simon talking to the camera-

Simon: A men's room confrontation

2. Vivian, Marcus and Simon filming the restaurant scene which Aoran interrupts [2:03-3:07]

Marcus pretends to be Xiao En eating, while Simon gently brushes his hair away as he does in the real scene with Xiao En. Simon is giving a loving look to Marcus, who is giving a shy girly look to Simon.

[Blue caption on Simon: First thing (he does is) brushes a wave (of hair) away]

-Cuts to Marcus and Simon talking-

Simon to Marcus: We should practice yoga together

---Hahaha, is this a boys love drama behind the scenes?! XD XD XD---

Marcus laughs

[Pink circle caption: Invites again]

-Cuts to Simon talking about the yoga scenes-

Simon: The instructor said the lighter one has to be on the bottom

-Cuts to Marcus' opinion-

Marcus: But I couldn't be on top

Marcus: I'm heavier than you 

Simon: You want to compare with me?

Marcus: I'm heavier

Simon: We shouldn't have too much difference so...

Simon [Lilac and pink captions]: We can both be on top and on the bottom

[Tanned caption: It's like the more he talks, the more twisted he gets]

All this time Vivian has been walking towards them and she puts a hand between them like Aoran does in the drama. Marcus and Simon both look at her.

Simon: What is it?

Vivian: Marcus Chang spends all day filming so many scenes

Vivian: How is he still having dinner with you, eh?

Vivian basically spoofs the Aoran scene and yanks Marcus' arm, pulling him up

Vivian: Let's go!

Vivian: Hurry up and go film your scenes!

She sits down in his seat instead and laughs

[Orange caption: It turns out she only wanted his seat]

She settles herself in and looks at Simon

-Cuts to the filming of the scene where Qing Feng brushes away Xiao En's hair-

Marcus, as Aoran, comes in and puts his hand in between, cutting their gaze, but he kind of does a weird flourish before he does this.

Vivian as Xiao En: Who?

Simon as Qing Feng: Aoran?

Crew member: Cut!

-Cuts to the feedback from crew member-

Crew member: Marcus Chang, your hand...

Vivian gleefully interrupts because she saw too: You were like this!

Vivian and Simon both do that weird shaking flourish

[Pink caption: Fancy love block]

Crew member: It fluttered a bit like a...

-Cuts to Vivian poking something between Simon's fingers-

It's like that game where you spread the fingers and the other person pokes between the spaces.

Marcus is standing up, so you can't see his face, but you can hear him

Marcus: We've filmed 12 episodes already...

Marcus [Brown caption]: ...And you're still holding some other guy's hand

Vivian finishes up with the game and refers to Simon [Blue caption]: It was him who held my hand (first)

Simon [Pink caption]: It was her who held my hand

[Brown caption: Who exactly held who's hand, la?]

Simon points to the camera: There's VCR (footage)

Vivian laughs and points at Simon: He held my hand

Simon laughs and the camera pans to Marcus who is glowering

Camera person goes around: Who?

Vivian: Who exactly was it?

-Cuts to Marcus talking to the camera-

Marcus: Lots of netizens say...

Marcus [Orange fire caption]: Qing Feng is a burning stove

-Cuts to Vivian's commentary on this-

Vivian talking about Qing Feng's fire [Brown caption]: For grilling beef, it's very convenient

Simon laughs and makes his best fire pose

Simon: [Red caption]: Fire god

Marcus: A burning stove

-Cuts to Simon's comments about it-

Simon: Hope that through this blaze...

Simon [Blue caption]: It allows me to be a herbal tea ambassador

Simon pretends to drink some

They animate sparkles around him

3. Simon and Vivian filming the part when Qing Feng lifts up Xiao En [4:38-6:40]

Simon [Orange and white captions]: I just sculled two eggs

Simon grinning: For Xiao En, I sculled two eggs

They show a pic of Simon in a dinosaur egg from Episode 8's Behind the Scenes video

[Black caption: Dinosaur eggs]

-Cuts to Simon talking while they dress him-

Simon: Because the ground is slanted...

Simon: At the moment, I'm still waiting to find an excuse
-Cuts to Simon still talking-
Simon: But I will still...
Simon [Pink caption]: Definitely lift her up
[Orange caption: Very manly declaration]

Simon: This is the first time I'm filming with brother Jason. Can't embarrass myself.
-Cuts to the moment of preparing to pick up Xiao En-
Simon to Vivian: Can you be a bit...can you give me a bit of...(room)
Simon hooks under her knees and holds her from her shoulders. Vivian automatically reaches out for his neck but...
Director: Your arms can't reach out for him
Director: You've fainted
Simon, struggling with the angle of the ground [red caption]: It's very slanted
Vivian, panicking: Wait, wait, wait...

Vivian: 1, 2...
Jason unsure if it'll work, steps over and almost supports
But Simon lifts her up without too much issue
Director [Blue caption]: Don't fall over
Vivian is panic laughing
Simon saying his lines with a grin: I'm going to send Xiao En to the hospital first

Vivian is shaking Simon's hand [Purple caption]: Don't act like I'm that heavy, ok?

Simon [Brown caption]: I didn't act...
Vivian: You think I'm heavy
Simon reassuringly: No, you're not heavy...
-Cuts to Simon waving that thought away-
Simon earnestly: Not a bit heavy at all...
-Cuts to the filming of the scene-
Simon picks Vivian up, but as he's getting up his knee wobbles noticeably, so they replay it.

[Red caption: Knee forced down by pressure]
Director: Come now...Cut
-Cuts to Simon, Vivian and Jason laughing-
Vivian: You couldn't stand up
Simon, sad yelping: Why wasn't (she) laying in the same way as before?

-Cuts to Simon demonstrating the difference to before-
Simon laying curled, laughs: You can't be like this, facing this side to get up
Simon shifts to show what she was doing before
Simon: Just before you were like this
Vivian laughs: I'm sorry...I'm sorry...
-Cuts to a second take-
Simon struggles to stand after lifting up Vivian
[Red caption: Still can't stand up?!]
Jason worried they'll topple extends his hands
[Purple caption: Can't help himself, wants to help undertake the task]
Vivian laughs knowing Simon has struggled and playfully hits him on the chest

Crew member: Wait a moment
-Cuts to Vivian and Simon blaming the ground-
Simon pointing
Vivian and Simon grinning [Pink caption]: It's all the ground's fault!
Vivian laughs: It's the ground's fault.
Jason chips in: Too slanted
Vivian: Too slanted
Simon: Too slanted

Vivian: I know
Vivian [Blue caption]: Why doesn't brother Jason pick me up to see?
Jason: According to my ideas...
Jason: I would...
Jason [Mustard caption]: Drag (you) by the ankles (to get to the hospital)
Vivian playfully slaps Jason

Vivian [Purple and brown caption]: Does Zheng Xiao En have problems with her brain?
[Pink caption: Faints really easily XD]
Vivian: I've already fainted about 3-4 times
Jason and Simon laugh
Vivian: (I'm) Still on the side laughing about how the main female lead always falls down...
Vivian: Meanwhile, Xiao En herself is continuously having brain problems
Vivian stumbles back pretending to faint or be dizzy

Jason: But I reckon...
Simon: Will...
Jason: You should...
Simon: ...you go towards a tragic direction later?
Vivian crooking her body: And then I'll (be in a)...
Vivian: Japanese drama
Simon: Yeahhh...
Jason laughs
Vivian laughs: Japanese drama
----For those who don't watch J-Dramas, a common trope is the fatal illness trope - there's a few popular dramas where either the girl or guy develops cancer or a mysterious illness. One example is 1 Litre of Tears---
-Cuts to Vivian bending over to swipe Simon's forehead-
[Yellow caption: Intimately wiping away sweat]

-Cuts to Vivian talking to the camera-
Vivian laughs [Aqua and pink captions]: If he can pick me up and make it look light, I can do whatever (he wants)
-Cuts to the filming of the scene where it happens-
Simon bounces off his back foot rather than relies too much on his knees
[Pink and orange cloud caption: Successfully picks up]

Simon as Qing Feng: I'm going to send Xiao En to the hospital first
He runs off with Xiao En
-Cuts to Simon and Vivian celebrate-
Simon, laughs with relief: I need to see first
They animate confetti on him

Vivian is happily massaging and hammering his back
Simon laughing: I need to have a look first

Here Simon turns around with his signature cool expression

He places a hand on Vivian's shoulder: It's (only) a small matter
He glances at her glancing at him

Vivian gives him a loving look and they animate a ring of hearts around her
Vivian: Thank you
Simon, sincerely: It's true, she really is not heavy

---Haha, this is actually a nice thing to say since I have seen behind the scenes of other dramas before where they did joke about an actress' weight even though they were skinny or about the guy's lack of strength, even though it's pretty hard to pick up another person honeymoon style and even built-looking guys struggle! It's cute that they were both happy with each other's performance and said nice things----

-Cuts to Simon shit-talking about what it takes to lift another person-

Simon: This not only relies on practical strength

Simon [Orange caption]: It also relies on telekinesis 

Simon: Telekinesis is a big portion of it  

He nods at the camera and walks away.

4. Filming the scene where Aoran spies on Qing Feng and Xiao En joking around [6:41-8:17]

Simon describing Vivian: I feel like today she looks a lot like...

Simon [Pink caption]: A holy woman?!
Simon: Especially with this hair
Simon: And then with the addition of these side...
Simon [Pink captions]: Butterfly...
Simon [Brown caption]: But also not butterfly sleeves

Simon laughs: I said the wrong thing
The camera moves to show Vivian's reaction. She is not impressed.

Crew member: It's a princess sleeve. Princess sleeves.
[Orange and white caption: Extreme glare]
Vivian: Can you not make a personal attack?
Crew member: ...Exactly...
-Cuts to Vivian's retaliation-
Vivian: Today I'm royalty
Vivian to Simon: You're the one who looks like a poor child
They animate an arrow to show Vivian's verbal attack hitting Simon
Simon laughs

-Cuts to Marcus filming the scene where he spies on  Qing Feng and Xiao En-
Marcus as Aoran, throwing the clip: Ah, it's flown away

Marcus as Aoran: What exactly are they doing?

Marcus as Aoran: So touchy feely
Marcus as Aoran: Aren't they just meant to be waiting for an elevator?

Marcus with a laugh: Otherwise, it's only one person, her by herself, with (lacking) intelligence
Camera person: That's right! You all have to have a matching (level of) intelligence
Marcus [Pink heart caption]: This is a type of expression of love

Vivian: Everyone copies me
Simon laughs
Vivian laughs: Don't copy me ok?

Simon chipping in: In the past, I used to watch her culinary program every day
[White and pink caption: Loves joking around]
Vivian hits him and pretends to hit him into the desk
-Cuts to Simon and Vivian acting as Qing Feng and Xiao En being playful-

Crew member: Won't you do things like scare her?
Simon: Yeah
Crew member: Scare her
Simon as Qing Feng does a dinosaur rawr at Vivian
Crew member: And then...
Vivian kicks him on the leg
They replay this moment
[Purple caption: Directly hits]
Simon bends over in pain
Crew member: What happened?
Vivian: I wasn't that rough!

Vivian playfully whacks him
Director [Yellow Egg caption]: (Did you) Break the eggs?
---Haha, he means to ask did she kick him in the balls?---
Vivian: Noooooo!
-Cuts to Simon and Vivian still acting as Qing Feng and Xiao En being playful-

Crew member: Continue playfully whacking each other back and forth
Crew member: Continue having bodily contact
Simon and Vivian are laughing and whacking each other playfully
[Aqua caption: A wave of disorderly hitting]
Simon bends over from laughing and Vivian gets carried away and continues hitting his back and head as if he were some drums
Director: Cut!
Vivian and Simon burst out laughing
Vivian laughing: (Are you) For sure....it's like this...
Simon laughing [Purple caption]: You really pulled my hair
Simon points to the camera: Did you see?

Vivian is laughing hard
[Pink caption: We've helped you to videotape and store as proof (power!)]

5. Simon and Marcus filming the board meeting
Simon: Yesterday
Simon [Blue caption]: I was practising my eye rolls
Simon [Dark pink caption]: (I) Practised until my eyes hurt
[Pink caption: Taken so seriously]
Simon: Have to realistically practise

Simon does a perfect eye-roll and smirk, but it looks more Simonesque rather than Qing Feng's style
He smiles at the camera
-Cuts to Simon doing a different type of eye roll where you flip the whites of your eyes-
[Black and white thought bubble caption on Marcus: Realistic?!]

Simon rolls his eyes, grins and then stretches across the table
Marcus starts doing the drum beats for that Chinese New Year lion dancing song
---If you're Chinese, you'll know it! Don't ask me why he was reminded of this from the eye-rolling. I have never associated lion dancing with rolling eyes, though I suppose they do sometimes flap those lion eyelids a lot---
Marcus: Dong dong Long-Dong-Qiang
Marcus: Dong dong Long-Dong-Qiang, Dong-Qiang, Dong-Qiang

And then they do lion paws and an oddly synchronised eye roll each.
[Red and blue caption: Romantic pair of lions]

End of Translations. So many cute and silly Vivian and Simon moments! Even if they're not the main pair, I enjoy their silly antics.
